Candidates are selected as a result of an application process. Candidates must be registered as medical practitioners with AHPRA. Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ post graduate experience in Clinical Medicine or Surgery, (excludes Medical Administration and Psychiatry). All applications must be deemed appropriate and acceptable at the discretion of the ACCS.
Medical Registrars are put through an intensive program of one-on-one mentoring and are supported in their training with a full suite of academically referenced digital learning content as they progress on a 12-18 month journey. The course culminates with a series of written and practical examinations leaving our clinicians prepared for a career of safe, successful practice. This is why almost 100 doctors have so far chosen this path with the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery.
Integral to the online learning is the multi-faceted program comprising compulsory practical workshops offering extensive “hands-on” practical training as well as in-clinic training and mentoring, attendance at accredited conferences and meetings, participation in Journal Club meetings and a world-class online training module. An additional optional requirement is the production of a clinical research paper or review article for publication to a journal acceptable to the College. The course requirements can be achieved over eighteen months. Any extension of time will only be granted in exceptional circumstances as approved by the ACCS Council.
Modules include, injectables, laser, dermatological and skin care. Modules can be completed separately or together as part of the Medical Registrar Program.
